How I Feel About Big Boobs (by someone who knows)

(I already know I will regret writing this before I even see my Google referrals tomorrow. Megan, this better be worth it)
I've got some big boobs. They're in proportion to my body, so they don't look completely out of place, but they're there. I can't hide 'em. Can't shrink 'em. Can't see my feet.
A lot of people spend a lot of time wishing that they had big boobs. Let me tell you right now - you don’t. Not really. All it would take is just one day (possibly less) of having them to make you realize that you don’t really want them.
Now, let me be clear; I’m not talking about gravity-defying, unnatural, freakish boobs of the silicone or saline variety. I speak of the natural and God-given chest trophies that so many of us are endowed with (often at an unusually early age - thanks for that double whammy!). Fake boobs are a whole ‘nother thing. Trust me. I’m an expert; I live in Southern California.
I’m also not talking about you girls with Cs strapped to your chest, OK? Cs are pretty average from my understanding. I’m sure a few will disagree, just like there will be those Triple-N sisters out there who argue over my classification of my own DDs as large. I feel for the larger ladies, but I can only speak for myself when it comes to this issue.
For those who lament their itty bitty titties, let me enlighten you as to the truth of big breasted-ness:

I have NEVER spilled a single drop of food on my lap. EVER. I do, however, have plenty of splotches and blotches on the chest area of many of my shirts. Do you know how to get catsup out of polyester? I dream of owning snow white T-shirts.

There are about three places I can purchase bras that fit. Lane Bryant, Sears, and JC Penny. Since I began boycotting JC Penny a few year ago (it’s a long story for another day) my options are pretty limited. On a side note to Lane Bryant, why do you carry size 28 underwear (which well over twice the size I need), but you only carry bras with cup sizes of DD or less? Wouldn’t you expect a woman wearing size 28 panties to need something a little more substantial? I’ve always wondered about that.

Can I get a sports bra please? Come on people! We can send satellites to Saturn, but we can’t create a well-fitting and (this is the key) supportive sports bra over a C cup. How am I supposed to exercise without uni-boob (the melding of two breasts into one unit carried at the center of the chest) or quadri-boob (the bra becomes so tight it cuts your boobs off at the top and causes extra boobage to spill out the top)?

Just because I can fit into a size 14 doesn’t mean my boobs can.

Face it, big boobs are like pets. You can’t ever forget about them. You have to take care of them, moniter them, check in on them regularly. If you don’t, who knows what could be going on! Big boobs have a life of their own. If you don’t keep an eye (and a bra) on them, they’ll run away, and you’ll find them years later, hanging at your knees.
I envy the A-Cuppers who can throw on a shirt over bare skin. Revel in that feeling of freedom for me!

Bra and bathing suit shopping have left me on the verge of an emotional black hole more than once. My latest crusade involved trying to find a bra that wasn't padded. (My breasts are big enough as it is...I don't need any extra help in that department!) It took two trips to the insanity that is my local mall but I finally found what I was looking for.

And then there was the time that I was trying on bras and found a tick on my ribs...But that's another story altogether :-)

Oh my God! Padded bathing suits! Yes! What the hell is that all about? I don't need padding in there--I need a bridge support superstructure!

Posted by: ensie at July 23, 2004 12:26 PM

yes...i believe it was worth it.
understanding bra shopping pain from the opposite end of the spectrum (no lady i cannot enlarge the cup size, shrink the amount of inches measured around the rib cage and have it fit effectively or comfortably...nice thought though helpful salesperson),

Meagan--I'm glad you read it and liked it. I fully empathize about the UN-helpful sales ladies.

Thank God I am not alone...I have the same complaint for Lane Bryant...we need bigger cups! Let me just say LIFT and SEPARATE

OH my gosh! Tell me it isn't true! I'm not the only one who is fed up with being big busted and penalized for it!
I am big busted, not by my choice but by God's! I am fed up with not being able to buy decent shirts or bra's for that matter! I wear a size 12 pant, but wear a 38G bra. Of course, I can float like a buoy, and have heard all the jokes I can stomach! Look, we just want to be able to be like the rest of the female world! Why should I have to buy t-shirts that are size 2X? Nothing like having the shoulders hang down to your elbows! And a sport bra! Hello!!?! Just because I have big boobs doesn't mean I don't want to work out! Look, don't get me wrong, I appreciate what I have. I enjoy looking good and sure, why can't I show 'em off every once in awhile with a nice baby-t or something? God gave 'em to me, why be ashamed?
Sadly enough, I have to go to a local store that sells mastectomy bras and wigs to order my bras. I have to at least try them on, and that is the only place that sells them. I feel horrible going in there...here are women missing a breast and here I am, large as can be, trying bra's on. Heck, even the Fredricks' of Hollywood in the local mall quit selling my cup size. The sales lady told me, "there just isn't a demand". I went to the local store in town that sells the sexy sexy stuff, which happens to be next door to the strip club. I thought, well there's probably enough women over there with fake boobs...they gotta buy the stuff somewhere. Well, no such luck! They used to sell the stuff, again I'm told, but there just wasn't a market.
Does anyone know of somewhere I can get a decent shirt or bra? I won't shop at Layne Bryant or the like either, as those clothes are for larger women. I'm not large except around my bust!
I feel better for venting. Thanks for listening!

OMG.. im 15 and I am a 38C.. and growing.. :(
it sucks.. ALOT.. i love playing sports.. basketball.. football.. the works but ive given them up because i have to wear two sports bras.. and i get a huge effing uni-boob, and to top it off.. i still bounce like no other when i run.. i used to wear a regular bra under a sports bra because that actually supported me more than the two sports bras together.. but when i did that the bra with wire would always dig into me.. uuh! so frustrating..

right now i have to look for a bathing suit.. im really not embarassed about my boobs at all because i wouldnt have made friends without them.. sounds pretty bad.. but i came to a new school last year and the guys talked to me because i was pretty and had huge boobs.. haha.. thats pretty bad.. but i was fine with it.. i love the summer too, and love swimming.. but the swim suit kills me.. just yesterday i tried on my suit from last year and my boobs were popping out in the front and on the sides of my tankini.. so now i have to go shopping tomorrow to find a new suit.. and its going to suck.. like you said.. you see all these cute bathing suits on the racks and the manicans.. then you go into the dressing room and look at yourself and it doesnt fit right.. uuh!! i hate it soo much.. its metally draning..

girlies with little chests.. YOUR SO DAMN LUCKY!

I'm not big boobed. all the girls at school seem have bigger boobs than me, you are so lucky, everyone teases me. I'm turning 15 and I still don't even have a bra! None of the guys want me as more than a friend, I feel so ugly. At least guys look at you! If they look at me they tell me how "flatchested" I am.

Posted by: Rachel at March 13, 2005 07:38 AM

All you big boobed women out there: there is hope! Checkout following website: www.bravissimo.com for bras made exclusively for big boobed women- and yes, they have sports bras. The amazing thing is that they have young, feminine styles uo to like a J cup or something- I recently threw out what I call my "grandma" bras. They also sell bra sized swimwear up to J cup, which is just amazing. Also check out www.figleaves.com- enter your bra size in the search so you dont get depressed looking at the variety for small boobed girls.
@ Bethany: Here's a little secret: I have F cup boobs and they didnt start growing til I was almost 15- so dont worry ;o) On the other hand, pray that you wont have big boobs- think of all the funky out fits you can wear that I'll never be able to :o(

Thanks Evelyn. I've seen the bravissimo site. They are awesome, although they are in the UK, so shipping can be expensive.

Rachel--Revel in your small boobedness! Enjoy the freedom! Be athletic. Love yourself as you are. I love my boobs, they're great, but they're work. Every body has a different blueprint, and you're only 15. Have faith. You have time to grow if that's what you want.

im 14 and i have d's and i wear size 3 in pants so im so unproportional and it sucks so much! i can never find a bathing suit and all my friends say how they wish they had big boobs... maybe one day they'll understand until then im still looking for a perfect bathing suit.. hah good luck to that

There are many different websites that cater to large breasted women. I am a 34K in US sizes. The best place to go is plussizebras.org(this will help you find the right bra no matter what company or country and some of the shops to visit). Most of the companies out of England do NOT charge shipping to the United States. Now finding a bra(even a sports bra) or even a bathing suit is a peice of cake. For inexpensive bras without shipping go to undercoverexperience.co.uk

im 17 size 4-6 with a 36D. i was a C until i started birth control for medical purposes and now i can't wear any of my cute low cut shirts anymore without popping out! does anyone know where i can find cute, summery shirts??

Posted by: katherine at June 19, 2005 12:02 PM

Im 15 fat and flat chested :( i would kill for big boobies

Posted by: kat at June 22, 2005 01:35 PM

"katherine" - don't worry about being "fat and flat chested". Some guys like big, cuddly girls. I do! And honestly, I couldn't care less if she's got a big or small bust, as long as she's nice to me, intelligent, and feels good to squeeze! ;-)

Posted by: Greg at June 23, 2005 11:56 AM

i want to go on birth control so i can make my boobs bigger. my mom wont let me though because she thinks i want to have sex. in fact i found (ok maybe stole from someone) some of those birth control patches and i put one on each boob. it didnt work and i ended up feeling sick and getting my period a week early. anyways i would do just about anything for a bigger chest. anything in world. ps im nice to guys, intelligent, and i dont know if im squeezeable.. no one ever hugs me.. but anyways i still cant get a guy. they always talk to my friend with the big boobs. and she says that im pretty. ugh i dont need her pity its just insulting.

as a fellow DD, i hear ya! i have found that www.title9sports.com has some great sports bras. i'm thrilled because i have a consultation in a couple months for a breast reduction surgery! good luck in all your breast endeavors.

As a nature cursed 30H (I'm 5 foot nothing 120 lbs), I have been all over creation and back to find bras that fit and after going to shops that sell not only grandma bras in my size but also little rubber things of a more intimate design I finally found a shop in Atlanta, GA called Intimacy. They not only carry bras (even sports bras!!),swimsuits, even cool little SUPPORTIVE camis IN MY SIZE. The best part is that they can even tailor the bras to fit you. The down side of this fairy tale is that bras run any where from $50 and up a piece. I bought 4 bras and spent about $600. I know its a lotta money but I have had the bras for 3 years and treat them like gold (hand washing with lingere soap NO dryer)

Hi guys! thanks for the websites. I'm also a small woman with exretmely large boobs! PLEASE DON'T CUT THEM OFF AND GET SURGERY! We can fight this! bravissimo.com is the best I've found. Has anybody found a website with nice dresses, suits, and blouses for our size? (I wear 34H and a size 4. I'm 5'4".)

Thanks for any help you may have!

Ok I just want to say FINALLY!!! people who know what im going through!!! Ive been large chested since I was about 15 years old and you know those really cute shirts that they make for A and B cup girls? Why dont they make those for us? And how come all the cute bras are A-C????? WHAT DID WE DO TO DESERVE THIS!!!!?!? Does anyone know of any websites that have cute clothes for girls that are small but with big boobs? Ive tried to look for some websites on the internet for smaller women with big boobs but all that pops up is porn....=(

I'm sixteen and am size D. I hate my boobs, they are irregular and lopsided. I am also shy, so my boobs and tallness make me stand out, which I despize. Since I'm tall, my boobs are relatively proportional to my body, but I would kill to be able to wear a tank top once in a while without something falling out. All my cute bras are size C and I can only wear them once in a while. Maybe I'll start doing intensive sports to shrink them...I read that if you do sports, your boobs can go down one whole bra size. Its worth a shot, eh?

Hi -
This is for the ladies in SoCal - there's a shop in Monrovia called 'Creative Woman' which is great for specialty bras and bathing suits. I'm a 32H/34G and I finally found bras that fit, are comfortable, and cute! They also have sports bras that don't do mono or quad boobs - they hold and separate! A lot of the customers seem to be older women, but both my friend and I are 24 and we both found some really cute items. They do full fitting and service for every customer, so it may be a bit of a long trip on a busy day - but having someone else fit me was great. I'd been wearing 36DD/DDD and the damn Victoria's Secret people wanted to put me in a 38DD - but my chest is 33 inches around. Doesn't work, people. Things ride up in the back, girls in the front sag, and noone's happy with that. The ladies out there measured me and let me try on bras to my heart's content - and they actually fit, looked sexy, and were comfortable.

Supposedly there is also a place called 'Alice's Undercover World' in Torrance which a friend told me was excellent - I've never been, but the website claims to have sizes up to a 64Z.

Both shops seem to have websites from which to order, but if you're in the area, I'd recommend going out there.
